Eligibility
Institute
- Violin, Viola, Cello or Bass
- Up to age 14 (or Grade 8)
Musical Proficiency
The Institute is designed for students who are comfortable music readers. Demonstrated by:
- Repertoire: Currently playing the equivalent of Bach’s Minuet 3 up to Suzuki Book 4
- Methods: Completion of a foundational reading method book (e.g. Suzuki Book 2+ Essential Elements Book 2, or equivalent)
- Ensemble Experience: Experience performing “Grade 2” level repertoire in a school or youth orchestra
- (Note: This refers to musical ability, not the student’s grade level in school.)
The ideal RMSC Institute student
Beyond notes and rhythms, we are looking for students with the right mindset. An Institute student is:
- Eager to explore music beyond the page.
- Interested in developing their musical skills in a mind, body and soul approach
Costs
$495 Tuition
Scholarship and financial aid available for qualified students.
Add-ons available during Institute week:
- $20/meal (June 15-19)
- $100/night for 2 singles and private bath, parent/chaperone required (June 14 -20)

Student agrees to adhere to all organization policies and code of conduct. Parent/Guardian and Student understand any infraction of the code of conduct may result in immediate dismissal from the Conservatory without the refund of fees.
