Vernal Richardson Scholarship Fund
Dr. Vernal Richardson (1932–2026) was a man of extraordinary heights—both as a USAF pilot and as a master of the violin. A collegiate professor, conductor and dedicated strings teacher, he inspired generations through his unwavering passion for music and education.
His professional artistry was legendary, spanning the Atlanta Symphony to the iconic Nashville recording studios of Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and Connie Francis. Yet, his greatest legacy was his commitment to the craft; even at 90 he was still practicing his concertos daily — Bach, Brahms, Beethoven and Mozart — a testament to the “Art of Aging” featured by ABC Philadelphia (WPVI) in 2022.
In his memoir, Far… Beyond the Starry Sky (2014), Dr. Richardson reflected:
“humanity still exists and with all its faults it is lovable and worth preserving.”
We honor his dedication to music by investing in the next generation. The Vernal Richardson Scholarship Fund provides essential tuition support for students attending Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory, ensuring his legacy of musical excellence lives on through our students and their passionate, persistent pursuit of perfection which reveals the extraordinary within.
