Chamber Music | Ensembles
RMSC is centered on the study and performance of chamber music.

Students are assigned 2 ensembles per session.
Ensembles range in size from trios to string orchestra.
Faculty members regularly coach within the ensemble.
Selected ensembles perform in 5 chamber music recitals each 3-week session.
Ensemble placement is made based upon

the student's level of playing as demonstrated in the audition for admission to our program
the student's specific technical and artistic challenges
the age of the student

The skill level of the individuals will determine the specific goals of each group. By the end of the 3-week session, the ensemble should be prepared to perform at least one movement of their selected piece to the best of their ability. Due to time limitations, the number of groups selected to perform may be limited.

Coaching
Coaches focus upon artistic expression, tone, intonation, consistency in articulation, ensemble rehearsal techniques, observation of dynamics, stylistic concerns and phrasing. Sight-reading skills are developed within coachings and as students elect to sight-read during free hours.

Students receive 8 hours per week of intensive coaching with our renowned faculty to help students

develop and refine tone production, articulation and vibrato
expand artistic expression and knowledge of repertoire
cultivate the art of ensemble playing
